What it does

You ask in plain language. Datum gives your AI assistant real CAD tools, so it works with real entities on proper layers, not pictures of drawings.

Draft

Construction details, sections and elevations with correct layers, lineweights, hatches, dimensions and leaders.

Redraw from a source

Give it a PDF, scan, photo or sketch. It reads the written dimensions instead of guessing from pixels, then draws it natively.

Edit what you have

Add elements, annotate, tag rooms, build schedules, rename layers, replace text, move and stretch entities.

Check the drawing

A built-in QA pass looks at layers, text heights, annotation scale and dimension styles, and reports what is wrong.

Layouts and plotting

  1. Install from the Autodesk App Store

    Then start AutoCAD or Revit. Datum loads automatically. The first time, the CAD program asks whether to trust the add-in: choose Always Load.

  2. Datum links your AI app

    It connects itself to the AI apps already on your PC: Claude Desktop, the ChatGPT app, Cursor and Claude Code. Restart your AI app once.

  3. Ask it something about your file

    What layers are in this drawing?
    List every text item and check it for typos
    Draw a 3000 x 5000 rectangle on a new layer called WALLS

Use the installed desktop app, not the website. claude.ai or chatgpt.com in a browser runs in the cloud and cannot reach CAD software on your PC. Datum does not include an AI subscription: you use your own AI account.

Privacy

Everything stays on your PC. Datum listens on your own machine only (127.0.0.1) and never sends anything anywhere by itself. Your drawings reach your AI app only because you asked it a question in a conversation. The one internet call Datum makes is the licence check against the Autodesk App Store.

Datum adds a small entry to your AI apps' settings and copies its skills to your user profile. It keeps your existing settings, and one command (DATUMUNLINK in AutoCAD, "Unlink AI apps" in Revit) removes exactly what it added. Read the full privacy policy.
